      Bodymed AG was founded by the husband and wife team Dr. Marie-Bernadette Walle and Dr. Hardy Walle in 1994 and was registered under the name Bodymed AG in 1998. The company has specialised in the field of medically supervised health concepts, with a focus on nutrition counselling, advice on vital substances and anti-aging products.

Product

      The comprehensive nutrition concept was developed using scientific methods and is recommended by leading dieticians. A consensus document by leading dieticians even recommends changing the nutritional recommendations of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Ernährung (German nutritional association) to bring it in line with the Bodymed concept. So far, Bodymed AG has been selling its products through more traditional channels, i.e. in more than 500 Bodymed centres in Germany and over 50 centres in Austria.

Market

      Bodymed operates on the important "functional food" market, which is experiencing tremendous growth rates. HW Partners decided to invest in this company because its business activities in the field of medically validated highest-level dietary supplements was highly convincing. However, the existing sales channels were considered to be outdated.
 
      When HW Partners started its involvement in the company, it was decided to develop an online portal for nutrition counselling, high-quality dietary supplements and special products related to dietetics. The portal will be introduced to the market in the second quarter of 2011 and visibility of the brand will be increased with the help of state-of-the-art marketing methods such as SEO, SEM, target group campaigns and portal linking. The products are sold worldwide; a corresponding international version of the sales portal will be available as of mid 2012. Integration of nutritional diagnostics, dietary concepts, high-quality special products and individual documentation will create a unique selling point that other sales portals are not able to offer.

      Furthermore, the image-boosting sales channel of independent dietary physicians (500 Bodymed centres) involving intensive customer counselling is to be reinforced by direct sales in special clinics and franchisee chemist's shops.
